PETALING JAYA: Maybank announced that its customer service hotline operating hours has been revised to 9am to 6pm from Monday to Friday, effective today (Feb 14).
In a statement, the company said the change was due to the recent spike in Covid-19 cases.
The bank assured customers that hotline operating hours for critical services such as lost or stolen cards, fraud-related issues, ATM or self-service terminal queries and Maybank2u password-related matters will continue to operate as usual for 24 hours, seven days a week.
It added that customers can also email the company at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact them via live chat on the Maybank2u website.
In a separate press release, the company also reminded customers to beware of fraud attempts.
In a statement on Feb 8, the company said to be careful of malicious apps that has potential to steal personal information such as SMS TAC, banking username and password.
“These scams usually take place when consumers are deceived by fake online advertisements claiming to be from reputable companies, promoting massive discounts, stock clearance, free gifts and more,” Maybank said in the statement.
It added that upon clicking on the fake ads, scammers will then attempt to trick customers into sharing their contact details or downloading malicious apps into the device, or lead them towards a fake payment website where they will unknowingly log in and reveal their banking username and password.
The company provided tips for customers to avoid scams, such as not installing any apps or clicking on suspicious links sent to them via chat messages. They should also verify their Maybank2u security image and phrase to ensure that they are on a genuine payment website.
If they suspect that their information may have been compromised, the company urged them to contact their fraud hotline at 03 5891 4744.
