Huawei has announced the arrival of its latest smartphone models, the flagship P50 Pro and the new foldable P50 Pocket, in Malaysia.
Powered by octa-core Snapdragon 888 4G processor, the P50 Pro features a 6.6in Oled display with up to 120HZ refresh rate and a 450 ppi (2,700 x 1,228 pixels) resolution, along with 8GB RAM and 256GB memory space. At 195g, the company said the new model boasts a lighter and thinner design with more battery capacity compared to its predecessor, the P40.
The smartphone’s rear cameras are positioned in two circles that the company is touting as the Dual-Matrix Camera Design. Users will get a quad-camera setup with 50-megapixel True-Chroma Camera, 40-megapixel True Chroma Camera, 13-megapixel ultra wide angle camera and 64-megapixel telephoto camera. Some of its camera features also include dual-view video, 200x zoom range and 4K video recording.
The front camera is a 13-megapixel camera with features such as slow-motion selfie and 100° wide angle.
The device is also packed with a 4,360mAh battery with 66W supercharge and 50W wireless supercharge function, and will be available in Golden Black and Cocoa Gold colour options.
Meanwhile the P50 Pocket is a foldable phone with 6.9in main screen display and 1.04in cover screen. It runs on Snapdragon 888 4G with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage for the Pocket edition, while the Premium edition provides 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
The device comes with three rear cameras – a 40-megapixel True Chroma Camera, 13-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera and 32-megapixel ultra spectrum camera. For selfies, there’s the 10.7-megapixel front camera. It also has a circular screen on the front cover display for users to see notifications and access various apps.
The screen also comes with an AI sunscreen detector that the company claims can measure the amount of sunscreen on a user’s face, which can serve as a reminder for them to apply more when needed.
The device comes with a 4,000mAh battery and 40W fast charging. Users can choose from two cover designs – White with diamond-inspired shimmering pattern and Premium Gold with flowing patterns made in collaboration with fashion designer Iris Van Herpen.
The P50 Pro is priced at RM4,199 while the P50 Pocket is priced at RM5,999 for the White edition and RM7,299 for the Premium Gold model. According to the company, the phones will be made available on the Huawei official website, at Huawei Experience Stores, authorised platforms and retail stores from Feb 22.
