PDRM: Ignore calls from bogus EPF officers offering ‘help’ with i-Sinar applications

During the Covid-19 pandemic, scammers are targeting individuals getting financial aid from the government such as i-Sinar applicants. — RAJA FAISAL HISHAN/The Star

Got a phone call from an officer claiming to be from the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) saying he or she could help with your i-Sinar application? The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) says to ignore it.

In a posting on Facebook, PDRM said the phone scam is a new tactic by fraudsters targeting i-Sinar applicants. The caller would offer to help individuals facilitate the i-Sinar application process to make it easier to be approved, upon which the individual will be asked to make a payment to the scammer to finalise the process.
