Fed up of waiting seemingly ages for your bus? Wish you could see the bus’ real-time location on your phone? Commuters can now check exactly when their bus is arriving on the Google Maps app, following a collaboration with Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd.

Users will be able to check the real time location of Rapid KL busses along almost 170 routes in the Klang Valley.

This includes the standard bus routes, as well as LRT shuttle services, and the free bus services Go KL and Smart Selangor.

Google Maps will now also be able to factor in the bus’ arrival time into its suggested travel routes via public transport, that combines bus and train systems.

“With this information, commuters can do other activities while waiting for their bus and head to the bus stop just before the bus arrives,” said the company, in a press release.

It added that Rapid KL had received constant queries from customers on the location of its busses – with an estimated 4,865 queries between Jan and April this year.

“More than 60% of the questions were on bus locations or its frequency, asked by commuters waiting for their bus,” it said.

Rapid KL, Go KL and Smart Selangor were run by Rapid Bus’ parent company Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, which signed up as a partner on the Google Transit service, which integrates the busses’ location data into the map’s systems.

The transport company said it would eventually integrate data on MRT shuttle busses, as well as the Rapid Penang and Rapid Kuantan service, into Google Maps.
