My, haven't you grown? Massively multiplayer, creative construction game Roblox is celebrating its 13th birthday with a video, in-game anniversary items, and a handful of social media giveaways, shortly after surpassing the 100 million player mark.
Having passed 100 million monthly players in August, Roblox is now celebrating its 13th anniversary.
An online playground that allows its users to create and share their own games (or play with others' inventions), Roblox debuted in 2006 and has since become available on not only PC and Mac, but also on iOS, Android, and the Xbox One console.
A strong social component linked with an all-age aesthetic has helped it reach more and more players, and Roblox Corporation is celebrating its 13th birthday with not only an appropriately themed video but half a dozen free in-game items that players can affix to their digital avatars.
In addition, a limited run of 50 virtual Cake Masks -- surgical green half-face masks decorated with sprinkles and a cheeky smile -- are being given away to winners of a Twitter and Instagram contest, in return for sharing their ideas for a dream Roblox game.
Roblox has enjoyed a number of high-profile collaborations this year, including tie-ins with the NFL, soccer teams Liverpool FC and Barcelona CF, TV series Stranger Things, WWE entertainment wrestling, sportswear manufacturer Nike, and monster movie Godzilla: King Of The Monsters. – AFP Relaxnews
