New mobile Firefox browser for Android focuses on speed and user privacy

Mozilla's new Firefox Preview is aimed at developers and early adopters.

Mozilla has launched a pilot test of its latest web browser, currently called Firefox Preview, which it claims to be twice as fast as the previous versions of Firefox for Android.

Powered by Firefox’s own mobile browser engine GeckoView, the pilot browser reportedly offers more privacy and security features to its mobile users. 

Mozilla’s official blog shares that the browser blocks tracking by default, stopping invasive advertisers and other bad actors early on. “The result is faster browsing and fewer annoyances,” it states. 

The browser has a minimalist design that reportedly helps with faster browsing experience for users, and it also includes a Collections feature that helps save, organise and share collections of sites.

Firefox Preview is aimed at developers and early adopters, who Mozilla believe can help them improve Firefox on Android. 

“The user experience of this early version will differ significantly from the final product, planned for release later this year,” it states. 

Mozilla encourages the testers to send their feedback via email, or on Github to help them improve the new browser.
