Oppo's new Reno smartphone, which boasts a wedge-shaped pop-up camera, is now available for pre-order in Malaysia priced at RM1,999.
The smartphone maker calls its unusual pop-up camera a Pivot-Rising Structure, which is made up of a 16-megapixel front-facing camera, soft light and back flash, capable of popping up in 0.8 seconds.
Meanwhile its rear-facing 48-megapixel and 5-megapixel dual cameras are capable of an ultra-night mode for better photos in low light settings and 4K Video recording, the company says. The rear camera is located under its glass panel chassis, in order to make the phone seamless to the touch, Oppo adds.
Using a pop-up camera gives the 6.4in OLED display more viewing space, with a screen ratio of up to 93.1%. Oppo claims the glass is also hardier, being made with sixth-generation Corning Gorilla glass.
The Oppo Reno unlocks using a light-sensitive, under-the-screen fingerprint sensor, which Oppo claims is more accurate thanks to the sensor’s all-new lighting system and algorithm.
The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 710 processor and runs on Android 9.0 pie with Oppo's ColorOS 6 skin, while its 3,765mAh battery is capable of fast charging.
The phone comes in two colour variants – Ocean Green and Jet Black – and comes with 6GB RAM and 256GB onboard memory.
The smartphone is available on preorder starting today until May 27 at Oppo's Concept Stores and official website, authorised dealers, and via e-commerce partners Lazada and Shopee.
Pre-orders can be collected from May 28 onwards, along with additional gifts including an extended one-year warranty and screen protection warranty, plus a phone casing with built-in battery.
Meanwhile, its big brother the Reno 10X Zoom edition will be announced on May 27. The upgraded model has a triple-camera setup, a larger display and runs on a Snapdragon 855 processor.
