Honor Malaysia has launched the new Honor 20 Lite, a midrange smartphone featuring a triple camera setup and an ultrawide lens, at an event in Kuala Lumpur.
The device comes with a 6.21in FHD+ (2,340 x 1,080 pixels) display with a U-shaped notch at the top which Honor calls a Dewdrop display.
This is the first smartphone from Honor that has a triple camera system.
The triple camera setup on the Honor 20 Lite has a 24-megapixel sensor for the main shooter, an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor with a field of view of 120°, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor for that is used for the bokeh effect. It also has a front-facing 32-megapixel camera that supports face unlock.
The marketing director of Honor Malaysia Clarissa Ng emphasised the smartphone's AI capabilities.
"The camera on the Honor 20 Lite has a AI feature that can intelligently identify the objects in the picture, and automatically enhance the image and making it look better. The objects could be flowers, animals, food, portraits and so on," she said.
While AI is most commonly associated with making pictures look better, Ng claimed the AI on the Honor 20 Lite does more than just that: "The Honor 20 Lite brings features like AI enhanced calling, an AI encyclopaedia that can identify over 400 European landmarks and over 10,000 paintings," she said.
The Honor 20 Lite has 3,400mAh battery that is charged via microUSB, although it would have been nice for the device to be equipped with a USB-C with fast-charging instead.
The device is powered by an octa-core Kirin 710 processor, and has 4GB RAM along with 128GB of internal storage. The fingerprint sensor is positioned on the back of the device.
Storage on the device can be expanded with a microSD card. However the microSD card slot is shared with the second SIM card slot on the SIM tray, meaning that users will be trading a second phone line for the extra storage.
The Honor 20 Lite will be available from both the Honor online store and Shopee on April 24 for RM949 in two colours, Phantom Blue and Phantom Red.
Both Honor and Shopee will also be including some extra freebies for early birds – the first 50 buyers on the Honor online store and the first 1,000 buyers on Shopee will receive an Honor super brand box. Additionally, the first 500 Shopee buyers will also get a branded drawstring bag.
For those who prefer purchasing in person, the device will be available at Honor Experience stores nationwide later on April 26.
