On April 15, Google published an Avengers: Endgame-themed teaser to the Store site confirming that "something big" in the Pixel segment will be announced on May 7.

Google announced Monday that "Help is on the way" in a recently published Avenger: Endgame-themed Pixel teaser. The company stated, "On May 7, something big is coming to the Pixel universe" and accompanied the announcement with a video that's essentially a promo for a collection of new Avengers Playmoji AR stickers.

While each generation of the Pixel smartphones launched in the fall of their respective model year, rumours have been floating around about the launch of a wallet-friendly lite version of the Pixel 3, a variant that has never before complemented a flagship handset.

Just last week, the Google Store was briefly updated to include the Pixel 3a in its phone menu; therefore, it's safe to say that the official title of the Pixel 3 "Lite" – the placeholder name as rumours began to spread – is the Pixel 3a. It has also been reported that the 3a will be released alongside a Pixel 3a XL, a cost-efficient iteration of the larger flagship.

As of right now, the devices are expected to be powered by Snapdragon 670 and 710 processors and have OLED displays that measure in at 5.6in and 6in, respectively. The cameras are expected to perform at similar levels as the flagship devices, though are likely to have fewer editing features.

Since the 3a lineup is expected to be a downgraded version of the standard Pixel 3 and 3 XL models, the cost is expected to start well below the flagship prices which start at US$799 (RM3,311) and US$899 (RM3,723).
