As much as tech and gadgets help our daily lives, there are many times when it is frustrating and can drive anyone up the wall, as shown by a recent survey.
Commissioned by Wiztek, an online mobile and tech support company, the online survey of 2,000 participants showed that many people, at some point, lost their patience with their tech devices.
The biggest annoying issue faced by the participants is “slow Internet”, followed by “slow computer” and “pop-up ads”. Those surveyed are also annoyed by paper jams in printers, and would generally start getting annoyed after spending about 12 minutes fixing technical problems.
A third of the participants admit that out of sheer frustration, sometimes they opt to purchase completely new devices instead of fixing the old ones. One in five of those surveyed also claimed to have had a fall out with their partner as a result of a broken tech device.
The Independent quotes Wiztek CEO Paul Amsellem as saying: “Tech is an integral part of lives – whether it be through our jobs or through our home lives. So when our devices stop working or don’t operate as they should it understandably becomes very frustrating.”
Over 45% of the participants admit that they’re not IT savvy, and three in 10 say that they have made the problem worse by trying to fix the issue themselves. About 25% of them have lost important files and documents as a result of a tech issue.
“Tech and computing issues are such a minefield – there’s so many possible causes to everyday problems, even the most knowledgeable of people can get stumped from time to time.”
