‘Same design!’ and other reactions to the underwhelming new AirPods

The new AirPods comes with hands-free Siri. — Apple

On Wednesday night (March 20), Apple announced new AirPods with 50% more talk time, hands-free Siri, and a wireless case to go with it.

The Apple Malaysia website lists three pricing options for the new AirPods – RM879 for a pair that comes in a case with wireless charging capabilities, RM699 for a pair with a normal charging case and RM439 just the wireless charging case. Previously, the local Apple site listed the AirPods for RM649.

Apple is even throwing in a free custom laser engraving option. (Yay for generosity!)

The new AirPods sport the same old design and not much new features, leaving some users on social media feeling a bit underwhelmed. There were users asking when Apple will release the long-awaited AirPower, a wireless charging pad that was first revealed in 2017, or introduce different colour options.

It seems privileged AirPods users have to wait a little bit longer for Apple to adapt these exciting new features into the device.
