Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 7 comes with 18-month warranty

Xiaomi updates its Redmi series with the Note 7, which comes to Malaysian stores on March 27, along with the Redmi 7.

Xiaomi refreshes its Redmi Note series with a tougher version that can take more abuse from drops and weather, backed by a longer 18-month warranty.

The Redmi Note 7 is designed to survive everyday impacts with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 used on the front and back plus reinforcement to the chassis corners, combined with watertight seals for its buttons and ports, the company said.

In case something does go wrong, Xiaomi is covering the phone with a 18-month warranty too. Terms and conditions apply to what is covered. 

Its 6.3in display comes with a teardrop notch and FHD+ resolution of 2,380 x 1,080. 

The smartphone has dual rear cameras with a main 48-megapixel unit paired with 5-megapixel depth sensor that allows for better low light photography and ability to introduce shallow depth of field. 

The cameras are backed by AI features including the night mode photography, AI scene detection, plus AI beautify and AI portraits for selfies.

The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and comes out of the box with Android 9 Pie. It also has a 4,000mAh battery, with fast recharge. 

The Redmi Note 7 comes in three versions: a 4GB RAM with 128GB memory for RM949 and 4GB RAM and 64GB memory version for RM799. A lower spec 3GB RAM with 32GB memory version is available exclusively on Lazada for RM679.

It will be on sale in Mi stores, Lazada and Shopee starting March 27, and come in three different colours: Space Black, Neptune Blue, and Nebula Red. 

Xiaomi is also bringing out the smartphone's sibling, the Redmi 7, which retails for RM499 for the 2GB RAM and 16GB memory version and RM599 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB memory version.

It comes in the same three colours and will be available through the same channels starting March 27. However it has a standard 12-month warranty.

The Redmi 7 has a marginally smaller 6.26in screen and a rear 12-megapixel camera paired with a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

Redmi 7 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 chipset and has a similar 4,000mAh battery as the Redmi Note 7.
