Leica Q packs twice the megapixels in the same form factor with the new Q2

Leica launched the next-generation model of the Q line of cameras, the Leica Q2, on March 13 at their store in Kuala Lumpur.

The Q2 features a 47.3-megapixel full frame sensor, up from the previous generations' 24-megapixels, while still maintaining the same body size of 130 x 80 x 91.9mm. It also has a fixed lens, the Summilux 28mm with a wide aperture of f/1.7 allowing for a nice bokeh effect.

The camera has a 3in LCD display and also has a 3.68-megapixel OLED viewfinder which Leica claims has better contrast and colour depth, and is weather-sealed with resistance against dust and water spray.

Leica boasts that the Q2 is ideally suited to sports photography, with a high speed burst shooting rate of 10 frames per second while being able to focus on a subject in 0.15 seconds.

It can film 4K footage at 24 or 30 frames per second (fps), while 1080p footage can be shot at 24, 30, 60 or 120 fps. The unit also features an ISO range starting at a low 50 and up to 50,000.

The camera comes equipped with WiFi support along with low power Bluetooth connectivity to be used when pairing with the Leica Fotos app that will be available on April 3.

The Leica Q2 retails for RM22,350 and is available from Leica Store Malaysia and authorised Leica dealers.
