A new free app from Microsoft promises to allow Windows 10 users to move data between their computers and smartphones far more easily than before.

Your Phone allows photos from your Android smartphone to be dragged and dropped from a phone to a PC, as well as text messages to be synchronised.

The app, available for download from the Microsoft Store, is also expected to soon add support for notifications and for mirroring to a PC.

Android phones have to be linked to the PC via Window Settings or the Your Phone app, according to Microsoft. You will then receive an app from Microsoft which you must download to your mobile phone before following the setup prompts.

Users need an up-to-date Windows 10 computer as well as a smartphone with Android 7. The app is and not available for iOS smartphones. – dpa
