Canada's no-frills airline WestJet is the latest carrier to tap into the power of AI chatbots for dealing with passenger queries.
Flyers traveling WestJet can now ask the chatbot named Juliet – named after one of WestJet's original aircrafts – questions about their booking, destination and flight status via Facebook Messenger.
Dutch carrier KLM was the first airline partner for Facebook back in 2016, allowing flyers to receive flight confirmation messages, boarding passes, flight status updates and check-in reminders via Messenger.
Icelandair followed suit soon after.
Elsewhere in the travel industry, online travel agencies like Expedia and Booking.com also use chatbots in Messenger to help customers manage their bookings. – AFP Relaxnews
