Fans create sequel to 1990s cult game Day Of The Tentacle

Gamers have been rediscovering the cult classic Day Of The Tentacle with a re-release and a new fan sequel. — dpa

The purple tentacle is back and once again it wants to enslave humanity. A quarter of a century after its release, the adventure game Day Of The Tentacle has finally returned to our screens – or at least as an unofficial fan game.

Fans of the 1993 Lucasarts classic have created Return Of The Tentacle – Prologue, which sees friends Bernard, Laverne and Hoagie travelling back in time to stop the tentacle.

Developers say gamers can expect to hear absurd dialogue, solve puzzles and hunt the evil tentacle monster.

The fan game is available to download for Mac, Linux and Windows platforms at catmic.itch.io/return-of-the-tentacle.

The release comes as gamers rediscover the original game in a re-release for Apple devices and PCs with Day Of The Tentacle Remastered. — dpa
