Update Thunderbird as soon as possible to keep hackers out

Mozilla's popular e-mail application Thunderbird has been affected by several vulnerabilities in recent weeks, including a critical bug. 

Users should therefore update the software to the secure version 52.4 as quickly as possible, advises the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). 

If left unaddressed, the security gap may allow hackers to display false information, severely affect the performance of your computer or introduce malicious software. 

If the Thunderbird auto update is turned off by default, you need to update the program manually by opening Help > About Thunderbird. 

The program will then check for available updates and automatically download them. When they're ready for installation, the button "Restart Thunderbird to Update" will appear. Click on it to complete the process. — dpa
