Bezos seizing title of world's richest person on Amazon gain

Bezos, 53, has added US$18.1bil (RM76.7bil) to his fortune this year.

Jeff Bezos is on track to become the richest person on the planet.

Amazon.com Inc. shares surged Friday, lifting its founder’s net worth by US$7.8bil (RM33bil) to US$91.3bil (RM387.2bil) as of 10am in New York, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. The stock climbed 10% to US$1,070.59 (RM4,538.77) , after the retailer reported results that beat Wall Street estimates. If the share gains hold through Friday’s close, Bezos will top the index for the first time.
