E3 2016: Ubisoft confirms Watch Dogs 2

Watch out: Watch Dogs 2 will get a sequel that will be shown off at E3 this year.

Ubisoft has apparently officially confirmed that Watch Dogs 2 exists and will be shown off at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this year.

The original game, released in 2014, was a third-person perspective open world game which received mixed reviews but ultimately sold some nine million copies worldwide.

The game’s main conceit is that it introduces a hacking element into the gameplay, allowing players to hack into the operating system that controls the city of Chicago in the near future, taking control of security cameras and even traffic lights, for example.

Reviewers praised the game for its hacking mechanics and mission variety but was criticised for its bland main character and plot.

However, it looks like the game has done well enough for Ubisoft to bankroll another one and hopefully, like the Assassin’s Creed franchise, the sequel will fix the shortcomings of the original.
