Even though we now live in the digital age, it’s still not easy for many businesses to make the move to the online frontier, as many factors play a part in determining their success or failure.

Dynatrace regional director for Asean, Koh Eng Kiong, says three aspects will determine the success of a digital business – customer experience, continuous delivery and application performance.

When it comes to online, customers expect the service to be speedy with no room for error, and the usage experience must make them come back for more.

Even when the traffic is high, a business must be able to analyse each and every customer’s experience on the website, said Koh.

Otherwise, should the user face an issue, he or she could highlight it on social media which will give the company a bad reputation online, he added.

Dynatrace claims its digital performance platform is the first of its kind as it gives businesses a graphical, real-time view of their users’ satisfaction level. This will allow companies to easily address issues before they become ugly, he said.

It will also show the user’s client type (mobile, web, etc), geographical region, app version, bandwidth (dial-up, WiFi, broadband, etc) and operating system (OS).

In fact, it can drill down to the version of the OS the user is using and if it’s a mobile OS it will even show if it’s jailbroken.

“It’s like trying to democratise data, where we simplify the delivery of the collected data and analytic in a way which is consumable across multiple types of businesses,” said its APAC chief technology officer Rafi Katanasho.

He said that two third of the time, users will not return to the website again if they are not satisfied with the service or if it doesn’t deliver the experience they are looking for.

“With digitisation, business operations will not be able to run the traditional way as everything needs to be simplified,” said Koh.

“Gone are the days when a business boasts about having 20, 30, or 40 new features when it launches a new product as the reality is everything needs to be simplified and easier to use today,” Koh added.

Dynatrace’s solution is available for on on-premise or Cloud deployment. It supports major Cloud solution providers such as Amazon Web Services.

In Malaysia, Dynatrace’s customers include the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN), Maybank and RHB Bank.

It says Malaysia contributes significantly to its coffers, as Southeast Asia is the fastest growing market in the world. It has 7,500 customers worldwide.
