Sony Malaysia has introduced its latest range of Vaio notebooks, namely the S, E and T.
All the new models feature multi-gesture touchpads with clickable surfaces. Additionally, the new notebooks have Gesture Controls which utilises the built-in webcams in the notebooks to recognise hand gestures, such as for jumping songs in Windows Media Player or swithcing slides in Microsoft PowerPoint.
The user can even increase or decrease audio volume during playback using hand gestures alone. The S series is the one targeted at mobile professionals who want a svelte yet powerful notebook.
Available in carbon black, black, white and pink, this 13.3in notebook offers the latest third generation Intel Core i7 2.90GHz (up to 3.60GHz with TurboBoost) processor, nVidia GeForce GT 640M LE graphics chip, 750GB hard disk drive, integrated DVD writer, and 8GB RAM.
Despite the advanced features, the Vaio S models only weigh 1.67kg each.
Next is the Vaio T series, which is Sony’s first entry into the Ultrabook category.
The T series is finished with an all-brushed metal look and comes in two screen sizes — 11.6in and 13.3in — and both have the same 1,366 x 768-pixel resolution.
Apart from that both the Ultrabooks are largely identical, and run on the lastest Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 1.70GHz (up to 2.60GHz with TurboBoost), comes with 4GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4000, a combination of 32GB SSD (solid-state drive) and 500GB hard disk drive for faster startup and response, and a USB charging function that works even when the notebook is off.
Finally, the E series has three new additions, with the 11in, 14in and 15in models running on a variety of processors, from the AMD E2-1800 Accelerated Processor (1.70GHz) to the Intel Core i7 processor running at 2.10GHz.
The 11in, 14in and 15in models all have a resolution of 1,366 x 768-pixels and have superior sound quality thanks to Sony’s xLOUD and Clear Phase technology, which boost volume levels without sound distortion.
