ASTRO’s newly-launched subscription-free satellite TV service, Njoi (pronounced enjoy), is now available for all consumers nationwide.
To enjoy the service, users will need to purchase an Astro set-top box which comes with an Out-Door Unit (ODU) satellite dish, smartcard and a remote control. The bundle costs RM288 and users will also be charged a RM100 installation fee.
At the moment, users will be able to access to up to 18 TV and 19 radio channels that are dedicated to particular interests such as education, news, drama, travel, documentary and many more with no monthly subscription or contract.
These channels include, Astro Tutor TV UPSR, PMR and SPM, as well as Astro Prima, Astro Oasis, Bernama TV, TV1, TV2, Hitz.fm, Radio Kenyalang and ERA.fm.
More channels will be added in the future, announced the company. Customers can look forward to buying additional content through a prepaid mechanism, which will be made available by the middle of the year.
According to Astro chief operating officer Henry Tan, the introduction of Njoi seeks to redefine the free TV landscape, as viewers will get to experience a greater variety and more in-depth programming in a free TV service.
