Varsity deploys Oracle technology

KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), a leading engineering and technical university, has deployed the Oracle Database 11g and Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) as part of its technology infrastructure.

The vice-chancellor of UMP, Prof Datuk Dr Daing Mohd Nasir Ibrahim, said today’s colleges and universities face increasing pressure to find more efficient ways to provide quality instruction and services.

He said UMP undertook the project to ensure prompt and reliable delivery of critical campus services.

“The technology can help provide UMP with fault tolerance to maximise the availability of the main academic portal, time attendance system, student management system, online examination system and, financial and human resource.

At the same time, he said, the new system improves efficiency because it offers automated management capabilities that free up staff time previously spent on manual administrative work. — Bernama
