PETALING JAYA: The PlayStation3 Move motion controller for the PS3 gaming console will be released here in September.
The official release date for Asia is Sept 15 and Sony Malaysia is aiming to release it as close to the date as possible, the company said.
For the Move to work it requires the PS Eye camera which is already available in the market. Basically, the Move uses inertial sensors to detect motion and the Eye tracks its position.
The system is expected to compete with Microsoft’s controller-free Kinect (previously known as Project Natal) system and the Nintendo Wii.
As the motion controller requires the PS Eye camera to work, Sony Malaysia will also include it with the motion controller and a Move title such as Sports Champions (tentative title) with its PS Move Bundle Pack.
Those who don’t want a Move game can opt for the PS Move Starter Pack which comes with the two devices and a Move demo disc.
A number of popular titles will be reworked to support the Move controller, including Toy Story 3, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, Heavy Rain, and Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition.
Lots of upcoming games are also expected to support the device such as R.U.S.E. , Killzone 3, Echochrome 2, EyePet, Heroes on the Move, Dead Space: Extraction and TRON Evolution.
The Move controller can also be paired with an optional one-handed controller, the PS Move Navigation device, which will also be launched at the same time.
The list price for the Move controller and Move Navigation controller are US39.99 (RM130) and US$29.99 (RM100) respectively.
While the Move Bundle Pack and Move Starter Pack are expected to cost US89.99 (RM300) and US$59.90 (RM200) respectively. Local prices could vary due to tax.
