THE FIFA World Cup is just around the corner and if you do not want to miss any of the matches, a device like the Noontec V9 Full HD media player could prove useful.
Apart from letting you play a myriad of multimedia files, the device is also able to record straight from the TV. All you need to do is hook it up to a video source such as the TV, satellite TV decoder or video player via the composite cable and press the record button.
The recorded content is stored in MPEG2 format and there is also a scheduled recording function for added convenience.
As a media player, the Noontec V9 supports almost all of today’s popular multimedia formats and can stream them to an entertainment system via composite, component video or HDMI connection.
Supported video formats include H.264, MKV, HD DivX, HD Xvid, MPEG 2-TS, RMVB and VC-1 files. Users can also listen to MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, AAC and a host of other music formats. In terms of images, it can handle JPG, JPEG, BMP, PNG, TIFF and GIF formats.
Inside, the Noontec V9 has space for a 3.5in desktop SATA hard drive, which users can use to store their media files. It supports up to a 2TB capacity drive.
It also has a multicard reader and two USB2.0 ports for users to connect external hard disks, thumbdrives and MP3 players.
With its built-in Ethernet port, users can connect to the home network to stream their media library on connected PCs or laptops.
You can browse online videos, photos, news and weather reports via the built-in widgets.
Going beyond media playback and recording capabilities, the Noontech V9 also has a built-in BitTorrent client to enable users to download files content from the Net directly into the device.
There’s also a USB B port available to turn it into a mass storage device when linked to a PC. A handy option indeed when users need to move video content in the internal hard disk to and from a PC.
The media player, which costs RM599, also comes bundled with a wireless remote control.
