In recent months, China has seen the emergence of many highly competitive homegrown language models, competing with famous tools such as ChatGPT and Claude from the USA or Le Chat from France. Now, there's a new model getting attention – Manus, a new AI that is particularly powerful and partially autonomous.

Manus, whose name draws inspiration from the Latin word for 'hand,' is a general artificial intelligence assistant intended to transform your thoughts into actions. Developed by China-based start-up Monica, it is designed to perform complex tasks without human supervision. And so it is capable of organising its actions, planning its research and taking various directions on its own, in a totally autonomous approach.

Unlike other AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT or Gemini, Manus does not necessarily need explicit instructions. Starting from a relatively simple request (your prompt), it can analyse a multitude of data and adapt its actions in real time. First, it explains its approach, then all the stages of its research scroll across the screen, in full transparency, through to its final answer.

Among its many possibilities, Manus can provide an in-depth analysis of economic or political trends, create tailor-made travel itineraries, search for apartments to rent, develop learning materials in the form of presentations and exercises, summarise podcasts or even plan a multitude of job interviews.

Manus is currently in private beta. To test this AI, you need to register on a waiting list via its official website. Access will only be possible after receiving an activation code. No official release date has been announced yet. – AFP Relaxnews
