With layoffs on the horizon, Twitter will reverse company policy and order its remaining staff back to working full-time in its offices.

About a third of Twitter’s employees are expected to be laid off via email as soon as Friday, according to Axios. Employees hired during the pandemic will have a 60-day window to decide if they will relocate near a Twitter office. Sources within the company told the news outlet that many employees can’t or won’t be willing to relocate.

Two months into the COVID-19 pandemic, BuzzFeed News reported in 2020 that Twitter allowed employees to work from home permanently.

After he initially wanted to conduct layoffs last week, new Twitter head Elon Musk has yet to communicate directly with employees, Axios reported.

This follows several days of news from Twitter after Musk took over the social media platform, fired its executives, proposed a monthly payment plan for verified users to keep their status and plans to review Twitter’s suspension policies. – masslive.com/Tribune News Service
