ADVANCED telecommunications systems provider ZTE Malaysia and telecommunications infrastructure provider Sacofa, have established a strategic collaboration to advance Sarawak’s digital transformation.
The cooperation reflects a shared commitment to building a sustainable, intelligent, and connected digital ecosystem aligned with Sarawak’s vision of becoming a leading green digital economy.
Under the collaboration, both companies will work together to explore, develop, and implement initiatives that strengthen Sarawak’s digital infrastructure and technological capabilities.
The partnership focuses on three key areas: advancing artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technologies, building sustainable, resilient network infrastructure, and accelerating digital transformation across industries through Industry 4.0 adoption.
Sacofa and ZTE Malaysia will promote the adoption of intelligent, autonomous network solutions powered by AI and cloud computing.
These technologies are expected to enhance the agility, scalability, and efficiency of Sarawak’s ICT ecosystem, laying a strong foundation for next-generation innovations that extend beyond the core promise of 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), and AI-driven applications.
“This collaboration with ZTE Malaysia is a significant step in Sarawak’s digital transformation. Sacofa's network modernisation will provide high-speed connectivity for the people of Sarawak and support a digital-ready future,” says Sacofa managing director Datuk Seri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Abdul Taib.
“Sacofa’s state-wide network will enable autonomous industrial initiatives and drive long-term digital growth across the state,” he adds.
ZTE Malaysia managing director Steven Ge, concurs: “We are proud to collaborate with Sacofa to bring intelligent, energy-efficient network solutions that align with Sarawak’s vision of sustainable digital development,” he says reflecting on the partnership.
“This collaboration reflects our continued commitment to supporting Malaysia’s digital transformation through innovation and resilience,” says Ge.
With the implementation of next-generation network technologies, Sarawak will benefit from ultra-high-speed bandwidth and ultra-low latency connectivity to meet the growing demands of the digital era.
ZTE’s AI-powered automation and predictive analytics capabilities will enable real-time monitoring, self-optimising networks, and proactive fault management, ensuring seamless and reliable digital experiences.
The cooperative effort also supports Sarawak’s sustainability and carbon-reduction goals. Both parties will collaborate to deploy secure, energy-efficient, and high-performance network solutions that contribute to a greener and more resilient digital backbone.
By leveraging ZTE’s global expertise in green technology, the initiative aims to create an advanced, future-ready digital infrastructure that supports long-term environmental stewardship and economic growth.
In addition, the collaboration will drive digital transformation across key sectors, including government, healthcare, education, energy, and smart cities.
By integrating intelligent automation, data analytics, and advanced connectivity, Sacofa and ZTE Malaysia aim to enhance operational efficiency, promote innovation, and strengthen Sarawak’s competitiveness in the digital economy.
