THE heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industry is significantly transforming, shifting towards artificial intelligence (AI) driven solutions, clean technology and highly efficient systems tailored to diverse regional needs.

Embracing this shift, LG Malaysia (LG) is leveraging its core technologies, AI and intimate knowledge of different industries, to deliver HVAC solutions for a smarter, more efficient future for its customers.

The company's global R&D investments have been crucial in developing cutting-edge AI solutions for its comprehensive lineup of air solution products, such as room air conditioners, system air conditioners, air purifiers and dehumidifiers, to redefine industry standards.

“AI is a pathway to understanding human needs at the most fundamental level. In Korea, we were the first to apply AI functionalities to air conditioners, pioneering AI-air solution systems,” said LG Malaysia managing director Justin Choi, during an interview at an LG air conditioning conference held at Connexion Conference and Event Centre in Bangsar South City, Kuala Lumpur on March 7.

“At LG, we see Al as more than just smart technology – it's about creating intelligent solutions that anticipate, adapt and enhance people's lives.

“We aim to develop AI solutions that don't just respond to human needs, but learn, predict and transform everyday experiences, making life more comfortable, efficient and intuitive.”

LG’s latest breakthrough, the DUALCOOL AI air conditioner, exemplifies the company’s dedication to intelligent innovation as it employs LG’s AI Core-Tech to deliver exceptional comfort, energy efficiency and air quality.

Key innovative features include the Al kilowatt (kW) manager, providing users with effortless control over energy consumption.

Accessible via the LG ThinQ app, this tool offers real-time power usage data and allows users to set customised energy usage limits.

It also features a window open detection technology, representing a significant leap in energy-saving capabilities, switching the air conditioner to energy-saving mode when it detects sudden temperature changes.

The air conditioner even intelligently adapts to each user's environment by detecting ambient conditions and automatically adjusting temperature, airflow direction and speed for consistent comfort.

Its Sleep Timer+ feature analyses user preferences and sleep patterns, creating the ideal sleeping environment by optimising temperature and operating quietly during rest hours.

Additionally, the DUAL Vane system and Soft Air function optimise airflow control for maximised comfort.

‘At LG, we see Al as more than just smart technology – it's about creating intelligent solutions that anticipate, adapt and enhance people's lives,’ said Choi.‘At LG, we see Al as more than just smart technology – it's about creating intelligent solutions that anticipate, adapt and enhance people's lives,’ said Choi.

Enhanced accessibility

Choi added that flexibility and availability are important factors in providing customers with enhanced accessibility to LG’s comprehensive range of air solutions.

He mentioned that the LG Subscribe household appliance renting service is one such approach to making advanced technology accessible to all.

More than a subscription service, it removes financial barriers that typically limit access to premium air conditioning solutions, giving businesses and homeowners easy control over their indoor environment without the burden of high upfront costs.

“We’re breaking down the barriers between cutting-edge innovation and accessibility, ensuring that intelligent, life-enhancing technologies are not a luxury but a standard that every business and household can experience,” said Choi.

“We also aim to provide comprehensive service and hassle-free maintenance by sending specialised technicians to customer locations regularly, so they can check the condition of the appliances and perform cleaning to maintain the product’s quality and efficiency and enhance its longevity.”

LG’s range of products spans multiple segments, covering air solutions for diverse market requirements, from residential offerings like ARTCOOL, Premium, Classic and Lite air conditioners to robust commercial solutions, including single commercial air conditioning, variable refrigerant flow systems and advanced chiller systems.

The range is complemented by 360° air purifier and dehumidifier solutions, embodying a holistic approach to creating comfortable indoor environments.

Choi said that with the LG ThinQ app, users can connect all appliances to work in tandem to achieve the best air quality and comfort.

“Through the app, we can monitor and control air quality, energy consumption and check when maintenance is required,” he said.

“This gives users the benefit of tailoring their appliance usage to suit their lifestyles and preferences – that is the benefit of infusing advanced technologies.”
