With their latest festive film, AmBank Group is not only ushering in the Chinese New Year (CNY), but also celebrating their 50ᵗʰ Anniversary, with the theme “Malaysia Kita”.
This film is just one of many in the communications and events portfolio of the Group during their year-long Golden Jubilee celebration.
Redefining the meaning of “Family”
The film titled “The Reunion Drive” is a touching story surrounding the reunion dinner tradition.
According to Chinese traditions, the night before CNY is reserved for spending time with family.
This heartwarming film explores what happens when one has to choose between a sense of duty and fulfilling the reunion dinner tradition and also connects this CNY story with the 50ᵗʰ Anniversary theme, “Malaysia Kita”.
At its core, this film is about family; not just those bound by blood, but those bound by the bonds of community as well.
The film captures the essence of the “Malaysia Kita” spirit of unity, trust and resilience.

50 years of moving Malaysia forward
With five decades of effort invested in building up Malaysia, AmBank Group has truly solidified its status as a community bank which is truly Malaysian.
Through numerous environmental, social and governance, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) outreach programmes, the Group has taken a leading role in reaching out to and developing various segments of the nation’s communities.
A historical collaboration
AmBank Group’s 50ᵗʰ Anniversary theme “Malaysia Kita” encapsulates the values of unity, togetherness and diversity.
So, it was fitting that they chose to collaborate with iconic artist, Datuk Mohammad Nor Khalid, better known as Datuk Lat..
As the first person ever to be granted the title of “Seniman Diraja” (Royal Artist), his work resonates with Malaysians from all walks of life.
They first worked with Datuk Lat from 1984 to 1991. His relatable illustrations communicated their values in a new, light-hearted manner that was uncommon for banks at the time. So, it is truly a blast from the past to see these two icons work together once again.
Keep an eye out for Datuk Lat’s eight brand new collaborative illustrations with AmBank Group that celebrate the “Malaysia Kita” theme, with the first illustration starting with Chinese New Year.
