In a world where environmental sustainability is increasingly paramount, initiatives that empower youth to become stewards of the planet are more valuable than ever.
Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s national sewerage company recognises this urgency and has taken a step towards nurturing the next generation of environmental leaders through its apprentice programme.
In conjunction with its 30-year anniversary celebration and its commitment in empowering youth, IWK introduced the “Perantis IWK” programme, tailored for local final year undergraduate and graduate students who are passionate about environmental sustainability and soft skill development.
This initiative not only offers students a unique learning experience in the area of sustainability but also serves as a platform to refine essential soft skills, develop leadership and communications capabilities and create impactful social media campaigns, which are vital components in today’s professional landscape.
To facilitate the programme, IWK is working together with NK Communications, a communications training and development organisation, led by Natalie Kniese.
Natalie’s expertise as an entrepreneur, trainer, radio announcer and TV host brings a wealth of knowledge to the programme, empowering youths to discover their unique voices and communicate effectively.
Participants of the "Perantis IWK" programme will engage in a multifaceted curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience. From comprehensive soft skills training facilitated by seasoned professionals to immersive sessions at IWK’s facilities, participants are equipped with the tools and insights needed to thrive in today's dynamic environment.
At the end of the programme, participants will undergo evaluation by a panel consisting of trainers and representatives from IWK, competing for three cash prizes worth RM1,000 each, along with the possibility of securing a job or internship at IWK.
The "Perantis IWK" programme draws inspiration from IWK’s flagship corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, IWK Cares, which centres on the pillars of environment, community and education. Through active engagement with communities and local stakeholders, IWK aims to create positive impacts, contributing to the betterment of society.
Students looking to expand their horizons in sustainability and personal development are welcomed to participate in this programme, which will be held at IWK Eco Park’s Dewan Cengal in Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur, for free.
