HE embarked on his career as a Muay Thai athlete at the age of 18.
Known as Jordanboy in the fighting circles, he is now reshaping his narrative by venturing into the world of entrepreneurship.
As the visionary force steering the helm of jttstoremy, Jordanboy, whose real name is Mohammed Mahmoud Musleh Mesbah Mahmoud Omar, seamlessly transforms his career trajectory, thanks to TikTok.
Jttstoremy, a local brand famous for its production of sportswear jerseys, sells a wide range of stylish and trendy Malaysian streetwear items.
Its styles take inspiration from the colours and designs found in streetwear and sports jerseys from decades gone past, combining them with the latest trends and influences seen in Malaysia's growing streetwear scene.
Jordanboy's journey through the intense Thai rings from 2014 to 2020 took an unexpected turn when the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted his athletic pursuits.
Undeterred, Mohammed redirected his determination towards entrepreneurship, transitioning from a Muay Thai athlete to an entrepreneurial visionary.
Though not without challenges, his grit mirrored the determination that defined his athletic career.
Initially, Mohammed faced modest success, selling sports jerseys to supporters through social media, garnering only 20% in sales revenue.
However, in October 2022, he took a bold step into online commerce through TikTok, introducing jttstoremy, his own branded designer sports apparel.
Guided by the tagline, "Nothing is Impossible," he transformed TikTok from a platform for sales into a vibrant hub, connecting with fans and customers on a personal level.
TikTok Shop became jttstoremy's primary revenue stream, witnessing significant growth with over 98,000 followers and 1.6 million likes for their products.
Mohammed's strategic move to enlist his siblings as LIVE hosts turned the venture into a family affair, creating job opportunities for eight staff, including his supportive wife, Puteri Nur Amira Rozaman, 23, and three siblings.
“It is really amazing on how TikTok able to help individuals to be successful in their business. 100% of my sales are on TikTokShop,” he shares when contacted by The Star.
"We've all adapted to this new way of selling and have witnessed significant growth, impacting our lives," Mohammed, 27, who is the second child of four siblings’ explains.
He reflects on the platform’s transformative effect, stating, “We've grown as individuals and created inspirations for small entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams.”
He expresses hope for TikTok Shop's continued success, envisioning a bright future and a lasting collaboration that provides more opportunities for Malaysian entrepreneurs to showcase local brands.
The brand's success on TikTok not only elevated their quality of life but also facilitated active community engagement through charitable initiatives throughout the year.
Jttstoremy’s online shop now achieves a higher monthly sale, reflecting Mohammed’s entrepreneurial prowess.
The recent establishment of the first retail store in Ampang, catering to walk-in customers, not only marks a significant milestone but also reinforces the brand's steadfast commitment to its followers.
The agility and adaptability crucial in the fighting ring now form the core of jttstoremy’s business ethos.
Mohammed highlights the importance of staying attuned to market needs and trends, actively seeking feedback from followers to continually refine the brand.
“We’ve established a nationwide brand presence and broadened our product range to suit the preference of our customers,” said Mohammed.
As a self-taught designer, Mohammed envisions up to 10 new sports jersey designs each month, keeping the offerings dynamic and responsive to current events.
“I design it and pass it to my sister for each sports jersey collection.”
In December, he plans to unveil new jerseys inspired by "state designs."
Each jersey narrates a story, whether featuring the paddy fields and eagle for Kedah or incorporating other distinctive elements celebrating each state's unique identity.
The SPM school leaver also expresses the distinct advantages of TikTok Shop over other marketplaces, citing its higher standards for product variety and robust seller protection.
“This assurance allows us to confidently promote our brands, knowing that counterfeits will be swiftly addressed. “
Additionally, Mohammed acknowledges TikTok Shop's role in providing excellent exposure for showcasing the brand, not just its products.
Mohammed's journey from Muay Thai athlete to the founder and CEO of jttstoremy is not just a success story; it's a celebration of resilience, creativity, and the unwavering belief that nothing is impossible. For more information on his online store, visit https://www.tiktok.com/@jttstoremy
