Bringing Australian design and way of life to Malaysian homes

The Something Worth Keeping campaign by King Living depicts the Australian way of life with a three-generation family.

STANDING proudly at the forefront of Australian furniture and design, King Living has set the standard for modular yet comfortable furnishing for homes since 1977.

Since its inception, the company has expanded regionally into New Zealand and Singapore, before making a name for itself in Malaysia in 2017. Since then, the brand has expanded further into other international markets including the UK, China, Canada and most recently, the US.

In celebration of its nearly five decades of service, King Living commemorates the emotional durability of its iconic collections with a campaign that embraces nostalgia and innovation alike, called “Something Worth Keeping”.

The campaign kick-started in Australia in February this year with a photoshoot featuring three generations of a family going about their day-to-day lives while creating memories in a home filled with King Living furniture.

One of the iconic pieces from the King Living collection that played a pivotal role in the campaign was the Jasper Sofa. Easily the pièce de résistance of the brand’s offerings, this sofa of uncompromising comfort celebrates its 20th birthday by bringing joy and solace to homes.

In keeping with the ethos of Something Worth Keeping, King Living captured the homes of a few Malaysian families, from different walks of life, who celebrate their togetherness with King Living.

Based in Kuala Lumpur, Wai Seng, a young father with a collection of King Living products, attests to the harmony between furniture, friends and family.

“We are a young family of three living in a condominium, our home is both our personal space and workspace, where we relax, focus, play or host friends and family,” he says.

“That’s why I love the flexibility and modularity of the furniture, which has been able to evolve with our living needs – from a smaller living space to a larger one as our family grew.

“We use the spaces with King Living furniture all the time, as we have placed them in our living room, master bedroom and on the little nook on our bedroom balcony. It’s comfortable, cosy and multifunctional as well.”

Be it a young or multigenerational family, King Living sets the standard of ensuring the furniture you have can be passed on to the next generation. From the steel frames that come with a 25-year warranty as the foundation of the furniture to the personalised upholstery service available to customers, King Living ensures your furniture is designed to last.

Gilbert Chang, an owner of a King Living Reo Recliner, moved to a new place after living in his old home for 17 years. He shares how he has grown in his new home and sets new traditions for his current lifestyle with King Living.

“We have been in this new place for close to two years now and we chose it because of its open concept, and also because we wanted to upgrade our home with the latest amenities,” he says.

“Our home is a space where we watch videos and also entertain guests, so we wanted to have a simple design that gives a homely look and feel that is comfortable, modern and high-tech.

“The Reo Recliner’s touch buttons and smooth mechanical movements, coupled with slots to mount the pair of Sono speakers for surround sound, fit into our requirements. It is a great design that matches our lounge and house theme very well.”

The “King Difference” in quality is as relevant today as it was 46 years ago for King Living, as it maintains its commitment to having an in-house design team in Australia, to continue challenging conventional methods of furniture design and construction.

The brand’s ownership of the entire value chain – from the design, production, retail and after-sales – also allows it to stand out from other furniture brands as King Living ensures the highest quality products and services, with efficient lead times for its highly customisable, made-to-order pieces.

The Something Worth Keeping campaign will serve as a foundational message for the company’s various brand campaigns and activities across its marketing, social media, in-store experiences, customer communications and more.
