Malaysia ready to go all out at Davis Cup


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia are set to host the Davis Cup tennis tournament for the Asian and Oceania region for the first time since 2015.

Malaysia will be joined by Iraq, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Pacific Oceania, Philippines and Qatar in the tournament which will be held from July 16-19.

"We extend our deepest gratitude to the International Tennis Federation (ITF) for their unwavering trust and continued support in our capabilities to host this global tournament," said Tennis Malaysia President Mirzan Mahatir.

"This appointment is not only an honour, but also a testament to the quality and professionalism that Tennis Malaysia has consistently delivered.

Mirzan wants Malaysia to take the tournament seriously and go all out in all their matches.

"Malaysia should not take this event lightly and try to win all our matches," said Mirzan.

"Team Kuwait and Iraq are taking this event very seriously as they arrived in Kuala Lumpur since the beginning of July."

The captain’s meeting for the group stage draw process will be done on Tuesday (July 15) at noon at the National Tennis Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

The tournament is expected to attract more than 150 players, coaches, and fans from the eight competing nations.

More than 40 officials and staff will be on hand to ensure the success of this event.
