Malaysia grabs swimming SEA Games gold

MANILA: Phee Jinq En ended the Malaysia camp's wait for a swimming gold at the SEA Games by winning the women's 50m breaststroke event in 31.40 at the New Clark City Aquatic Centre.

It was also a new national record for Jinq En, matching the time she set in the morning when she qualified fastest in the heats on Friday (Dec 6).

Jinq En had smashed her national mark of 31.40 she set en route to finishing fifth in the Asian Games in Indonesia last year.

Srisa Ard Jenjira of Thailand got the silver in 31.41 ahead of Singapore's Christie Chue, who touched home in 31.43.

Malaysia's Alicia Ann Soosai was seventh in 33.24
