Mixed doubles duo Ameeshenraj-Rachel carry the torch into semis

PETALING JAYA: National squash duo C. Ameeshenraj-Rachel Arnold kept Malaysia’s hopes alive in the mixed doubles event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games after storming into the semi-finals on Friday (Sept 25).

The second seeds defeated seventh seeds Oh Seo-jin-Heo Ming-yeong of South Korea 11-8, 11-9 in 26 minutes at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena.

Earlier, top seeds and early favourites Syafiq Kamal-Aifa Azman crashed out in the quarter-finals after losing in straight sets to Hong Kong’s Tang Ming Hong-Lee Ka Yi.

Ameeshenraj-Rachel will take on third seeds Matthew Lai-Toby Tse of Hong Kong in the semi-finals on Saturday (Sept 26).
