PETALING JAYA: National squash ace S. Sivasangari cruised into the second round of the Qatar Classic after she beat Egypt’s Sana Ibrahim on Saturday (Sept 12).
World No. 5 Sivasangari hit a small speed bump in the second game but managed to close out the first round match 11-5, 3-11, 11-4, 11-4 in 40 minutes at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.
It was Sivasangari’s sixth win over Sana.
However, compatriot and world No. 21 Aira Azman suffered an early end to her campaign in Doha after she was stunned by world No. 31 Malak Khafagy of Egypt in the first round.
Malak came from behind to win 9-11, 11-6, 11-6, 4-11, 11-6.
