PETALING JAYA: National squash player S. Sivasangari’s run at the Qatar Classic came to an end in the quarter-finals after she was defeated by Egypt’s Hania El Hammamy on Wednesday (Oct 1).

Seventh seed Sivasangari fell 7-11, 8-11, 6-11 to second seed El Hammamy at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.

The quarter-finals was the furthest Sivasangari has reached at the Platinum-level tournament in Qatar, upping her previous best in 2023 where she made it to the third round but was denied progress by El Hammamy as well.

The win was El Hammamy’s sixth triumph over Sivasangari in eight previous meetings.

Sivasangari will compete next at the Silicon Valley Open in California from Oct 11-15.
