Herbalife extends Wee Wern sponsorship for another year

PETALING JAYA: National squash player Low Wee Wern’s world ranking has dropped by seven rungs to No. 16 as she’s been out since April with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

But that hasn’t stopped Herbalife, a global nutrition company which has been sponsoring her since 2011, to extend her contract for another year.

Sridhar Rajagopalan, sub regional general manager of Herbalife Malaysia and Singapore, said they were happy to renew Wee Wern’s contract.

“It’s an honour for us to be associated with an athlete like Wee Wern, who has made Malaysia proud through her performances in tournaments this year and the previous years.

“We applaud her hard work, determination and proven talent. We look forward to strengthening our support for her journey to achieve more milestones in her career,” said Sridhar.

The 25-year-old Wee Wern thanked Herbalife for their confidence in her.

“I hope to contribute actively to Herbalife’s cause, inspiring millions to lead a healthy and active lifestyle,” said Wee Wern, who will compete in the National Closed at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil from Nov 4-8.

“The renewal of Herbalife’s contract for another year has inspired me to defend the title in the National Closed next month. I’ve started doing light training but I’ll only start playing again in the next two weeks,” added the Penangite.
