Rugby-Defensive solidity gives Hurricanes hope, says coach Laidlaw

(Reuters) - Wellington Hurricanes' defensive resilience has given coach Clark Laidlaw confidence his team can remain in contention for a place in the Super Rugby Pacific playoffs after holding off the Otago Highlanders 20-18 win in Dunedin on Saturday.

Ruben Love dived into the corner to put the Hurricanes ahead with 18 minutes remaining and Laidlaw's side survived huge pressure and a last-ditch drop-goal attempt from Sam Gilbert to pick up their second win of the season.
