PETALING JAYA: Dineshwaran Krishnan (pic) is set to continue his adventure in the Land of the Rising Sun.
The Malaysian international rugby player, fondly known as “Dugro”, signed a three-year deal with Tokyo-based side Hino Red Dolphins.
The 30-year-old turned out for Yamaha Jubilo for five years in the Japan Top League but decided not to renew his contract with the Iwata-based team as he was looking for a new challenge.
“Today, I’m happy to announce that I’ve signed a three-year contract with Hino Red Dolphins in the Japanese Top League,” said the 1.98m lock on his Facebook page.
“I have big ambitions at this great club and I hope to bring all my experience to drive them forward in the new season.”
Malaysia Rugby Union president Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya is elated and wishes Dineshwaran the best with his new team.
“I’m very proud of him. Yamaha is one of the top teams in Japan but I’m sure Dugro and his agent saw the potential in Hino.
“His new club have agreed to release him for the Asian Rugby Championship next month which augurs well for us,” he said.
The Sungai Petani-born player will have several internationals such as Rene Ranger, Augustine Pulu (New Zealand), Nili Latu (Tonga) and Tsuyoshi Murata (Japan) as his teammates.
