PETALING JAYA: Malaysia rolled into two lawn bowls finals to stay on course for a Commonwealth Games double on Monday (July 27).
The 34-year-old Izzat Shameer Dzulkeplee edged past Australia’s Aaron Wilson in a tense men’s singles semi-finals at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) Centre in Glasgow.
He recovered from a 2-5 opening set deficit to level with a commanding 9-4 win before sealing a 1-0 victory in the tie-break
Izzat will face England’s Sam Tolchard in the final on Tuesday (July 28) at 6.45pm (Malaysian time).
In the women’s pairs, Aleena Ahmad Nawawi and Syafiqah Haidar Afif Abdul Rahman, overcame Northern Ireland’s Chloe Wilson and Shauna O’Neill to reach the final.
The Malaysian pair trailed 3-4 after the first set but turned the tie around with a 7-4 second set win before closing it out 1-0 in the tiebreak.
The 27-year-old Aleena and Syafiqah, 32 will face England’s Amy Pharoah and Sian Honnor at 5.10pm.
