PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s sepak takraw team booked their ticket to the final of the team regu event after defeating neighbours Indonesia on Saturday (May 23).
After beating Japan in the semi-final, Malaysia reached the final with a 2-0 win over Indonesia at Titiwangsa Stadium.
Malaysia fielded Afifuddin Razali, Aidil Aiman Zawawi, and Zulkifli Razak as the first regu, and they had no issues winning 15-7, 15-9.
The second set saw Haziq Hairul Nizam replace Syahir Rosdi and team up with Azlan Alias and Farhan Adam.
Indonesia’s second team of Saiful Rijal, Yusha Aswinatama, and Hardiansyah Muliang took the first set 15-10, but Malaysia managed to fight their way back to win the remaining two sets 17-16, 14-9.
Malaysia will now face its rival, Thailand, in the final on Saturday.
