100Plus, NSC, Yakeb honour ex-athletes ahead of Chinese New Year

KUALA LUMPUR: It was a Chinese New Year filled with warmth and appreciation for seven former national athletes, who were celebrated and presented with contributions and festive ang pow in a heartfelt gathering.

Sunny Leong (basketball and tenpin bowling), Ringo Wang Chee Ming (tenpin bowling), Cheok Kon Fatt (para powerlifting), Bah Chui Mei (lawn bowls), Tan Tai Fatt (rugby), Ng Mun Keai (football), and Fong Chein Wai (karate) received the aid through a programme organised by 100Plus in collaboration with the National Sports Council (NSC) and the National Athletes Welfare Foundation (Yakeb).

Now in its third year, the programme was held around the Klang Valley and aimed to deliver contributions and festive ang pow to seven former athletes who had represented Malaysia with distinction at both national and international levels.

Among those present were F&N Event and Sponsorship Management manager Mohd Fauzi Ahmad, Yakeb chairman Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail, and NSC director-general Jefri Ngadirin.

The strategic collaboration between stakeholders underscores the importance of corporate support in safeguarding athletes’ welfare, while reflecting Malaysia’s spirit of unity and care for its sporting heroes.

The initiative also embodies the Chinese New Year values of family, well-being and appreciation, recognising the contributions of former national athletes to the country.
