Women cricket take silver in Thailand


BANGKOK: The Malaysian women’s cricket team had to settle for a silver after losing to the home side Thailand by seven wickets in the T20 (20-overs) final at the TerdThai Cricket Ground here on Friday (Dec 19). 

The Thai side, led by Naruemol Chaiwai, were too strong for Malaysia, limiting them to just 58 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs.

In their chase, Thailand only needed 9.5 overs to reach 59 runs for three wickets and take the gold. 

The women’s team led by Winifred Anne Duraisingam, earlier won the T10 (10-overs) bronze medal.
