Wassof stuns Thai rival to win muay thai gold

BANGKOK: Muay fighter Wassof Rumijam pulled off an upset win to deliver the second gold medal for Malaysia at Lumpini Stadium on Wednesday (Dec 17).

The 22-year-old overcame Thailand’s Thongchai Huanak 20-19 to win the men’s below 54kg final contest.

It is the second gold for Malaysia in the muay competition following Yan Jia Chi’s stunning win in the women’s wai kru event earlier.
