PETALING JAYA: It was wushu exponent Lee Jia Rong's turn to shine at the World Championships in Brasilia, Brazil.
Jia Rong secured Malaysia's fourth gold medal in the world meet on Saturday (Sept 6) after winning the women's daoshu event with 9.726 points.
In a tight contest, Hong Kong's Michelle Yeung also scored 9.726 points, but it was Jia Rong who was awarded the gold based on a higher difficulty level in her routine.
The bronze went to Japan's Kana Ikeuchi, who tallied 9.723 points.
It is the second medal for the Malaysian debutant from Johor, who had taken a bronze in the women's gunshu event on Wednesday (Sept 3).
With one day of competition remaining, Malaysia have clinched four gold, one silver and one bronze so far.
Si Shin Peng delivered two gold medals in the men's qiangshu and jianshu, while Tan Cheong Min came out tops in the women's nangun event.
