Dropping of many weight categories only makes competition heavier for lifters


PETALING JAYA: The elimination of many weight categories, especially the lower categories introduced by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) starting this June, will impact Malaysia and Asian countries.

Malaysian Weightlifting Federation (MWF) president Datuk Ayub Rahmat said that with only eight new categories being introduced, it does not completely close off opportunities for national athletes but it’s going to make each category more competitive.
