KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s medal target approach without specifying colours at major sporting events could be refined by identifying elite athletes with strong gold medal potential at the SEA Games in Thailand this December.

Former National Sports Council (NSC) director-general Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail (pic) suggested this, stressing that the SEA Games should be a platform for elite athletes to pursue gold, given the lower level of competition compared to the Asian or world stage.
