Third gold for Malaysia in Asian wushu meet 


The Malaysian wushu team finished the Asian Wushu Championships in Macau with three golds, four silvers and three bronzes.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia closed their campaign at the Asian Wushu Championships on a perfect note with another gold in Macau today.

Mohd Danish Aizad Firdaus Chua, Si Shin Peng and Bryan Ti Kai Jie won the men's duilian (sparring) event with 9.806 points at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion to deliver the third gold for Malaysia at the Asian meet.

Philippines trio of Mark Anthony, Polo-Mark Lester Ragay and Vincent Ventura claimed the silver with 9.556 points while Ho Yin Ching-Chen Jinsong-Kinson Ting secured the bronze for Hong Kong with 9.536 points.

It is the second gold medal for Bryan, who had won the men's nanquan event on Thursday.

Tan Cheong Min was the other gold medallist for Malaysia, coming out tops in the women's nandao on Friday.

Malaysia also picked up a bronze in the newly introduced pair taiqiquan event through Wong Zi Hong-Sydney Chin, who scored 9.743 points.

The Malaysia wushu team will come back with a total of three gold, four silver and three bronze medals, finishing a proud second behind wushu powerhouse China in the overall standings for taolu (barehands and weapons).
